Simon Galstyan

Simon Galstyan was born on March 7,1914, in Yerevan. In 1934 he graduated from Art College, named after P.Terlemezyan, Yerevan. In 1936 he was admitted to the Fine Arts, named after I.Repin of the Art Academy, Leningrad. Since 1967 he is Honored artist of Armenia. Simon Galstyan was awarded several prizes: 1936 - First Prize in Caucasian Art Exhibition; 1946 - Second Prize in the competition, dedicated to the image of Komitas in Armenian Fine Arts. Since 2002 for four times his paintings have been presented at the Christie's auction in London and included in the British and Continental Pictures catalog. The works are kept in NGA (Yerevan), Tretyakov gallery and Fine Arts Museum, named after Pushkin (Moscow), in many private collections in Armenia and abroad, Simon Galstyan died in Yerevan, 2000.
