Vagharshak Sargsyan

Vagarshak Sargsyan was born on June 27, 1924, in Nakhchivan. In 1926 his family moved to Yerevan. From 1939 to 1941 he studied at Art College after P. Terlemezyan, from 1949 to 1953 at Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema. Since 1953 he participated in republican exhibitions. He held personal exhibitions in Yerevan (1974, 1976) and Moscow (1976). His remarkable works have been exhibited in Poland, France, Portugal, Germany, USA and some African countries. V. Sargsyan basically created thematic portraits, landscapes, still lifes. The early period of his work was devoted to his native city, discernible streets, alleys, bridges. Since 1956 member of Artists' Union of Armenia, Honored Artist of USSR (1980). He died in 2004.
